Description

Folios 242-243: John Larmour, HMS Clyde, Yarmouth. Reports he has arrived after a month's cruise off the coast of Holland as ordered by Lord Keith. Encloses his log to 20 May.

Folios 244-247: enclosed with folios 242-243. Log between 1 and 20 May 1803 of HMS Clyde by Captain John Larmour. At Leith Roads on 1 May. On 3 May made contact with HMS Amethyst on the Firth and on 4 May anchored in the Roads. On 6 May made signal no. 262 to HMS Amethyst. On 7 May spoke to HMS Princess Royal, boarded a sloop from Bamff and brought too a sloop from Montrose bound for Berwick. Also pressed a fishing boat at Stonehaven and examined a lugger found to be a prize of HMS Henry Dundas. On 8 May sailed off Aberdeen and boarded a brig from Sunderland bound for Aberdeen and off Peterhead gave chase and then examined a boat from Aberdeen bound for Stornoway. On 9 May boarded a vessel at Stonehaven bound for Alloway and then sailed past the Isle of May and sent an Officer ashore at Crail for intelligence. On 10 May boarded a vessel from Norway bound for Arbroath. On 11 May passed Aberdeen and boarded a vessel from Alloway to Stonehaven and sent an Officer ashore to Crail for intelligence. On 12 May anchored at Leith Roads and then found HMS Amethyst. On 19 May fired several guns to bring too vessels passing May Island. On 20 May spoke to HMS Princess Royal to take newly raised men from Leith to the Nore and then sailed up the Firth and anchored at Leith Roads.
