Folios 366-367: James Henry Garretty, 248 Oxford Street. Letter enclosing his 'memorial'.
Folios 368-369: enclosure with folios 366-367. The memorial is Commander Garretty's account of wounds received during his RN service, first from attempting to salvage HMS El Trusco, totally dismasted on her way to the West Indies on 16 December 1795, for which he was placed on the list of pensioned lieutenants, with 5 shillings a day. He received many severe wounds after this, including the loss of his right arm in enemy action, and continues to suffer to this day. He finds it impossible to keep his family of wife and four children on his old pension and asks for a pension commensurate with what officers of his rank in similar circumstances may receive.
