Folios 362-363: Henry Fyge Jauncey, HMS Hope, Woolwich. Advising that Lieutenant Crossley, appointed to the ship by their Lordships, has not joined, but appeared only once while Jauncey was absent and then departed. Asks that another officer be appointed in his stead. He adds that want of men is the only thing now delaying the ship and if another officer can join as soon as possible he will be able to send the second lieutenant to London to raise the necessary volunteers - he has been unable to do this himself while seeing to the fitting out of the ship.
Folios 364-365: enclosure with folios 362-363. Further note from Jauncey, HMS Hope, Woolwich, dated 25 October 1815 of the same date, saying that as Crossley seems to have a 'strong disinclination' to joining the Hope he would like to recommend another officer, Lt Muriel[?] of Cambridgeshire. Adds that it is very difficult to find officers of standing willing to join the ten-gun brigs.
