Folios 122-123: Richard Gaire Janverin, Hull Rendezvous. Responding to Admiralty query of 13 May regarding his acquisition of arms he says that having no tender available for the safekeeping of impressed men he had made the application for arms to prevent any disturbance at the Rendezvous. However he understands from the letter that he should not have acted so and has ordered the arms to be returned to the Ordnance department. Assures them that the arms had not been made use of, nor even taken from the chest, but were purely intended for the use of boats bringing vessels from the river for the purpose of examining their men.
