Folios 43-44: Alexander Jones, Exmouth. Noting that their Lordships have expressed their intention to promote young gentlemen who have passed their examinations, he strongly recommends Mr Joseph Wright, currently Mate of the Stork, to their notice. Wright served 4 years under him on the Talbot and Jones says that from his attention to duty and his abilities, he could always be trusted with the duty of any commissioned officers who were ill or absent. He considers that Wright's removal to the Stork was unjust, as he had been displaced from the Talbot by her new captain in order to put a less able man in as Mate. Now Wright has passed his examination for lieutenant and has been on the Stork for over 3 years, and is most strongly recommended by her commander, Captain Coulson - who indeed values him so highly he has refused to discharge him into the Levant (Jones's current ship) though he had been brought into the Service by Jones originally. Adds a PS that Mr Molesworth has also written to their Lodships commending Mr Wright.
