Folios 256-257: Samuel Jackson, HMS Superb, Downs. States that Lieutenant Jonathan Nicolls of HMS Superb being on shore on leave of absence at Portsmouth was found so much indisposed at the time HMS Superb was getting under weigh as to render it dangerous bringing him on board and with there being very little probability of his being able to join the ship again. He requests the appointment of Lieutenant Charles Timmens[?] which Admiral Richard Goodwin Keats intended to make application for - in the event of a vacancy taking place in the Ship.
