Folios 199-200: Richard Janverin, HMS Pluto, Portland Roads. As a consequence of the excessive desertion that has taken place on board HMS Pluto he has examined every vessel in those roads and found a deserter, Jerry Mellins [sp?] on board the Betsey privateer cutter of Guernsey. He was never sworn not to belong to HM service prior to being taken on board the privateer. He believes that a great many deserters are now in privateer service.
