Folios 164-165: Nicholas Ingram, Sea Fencibles, Weymouth. Yesterday morning he was told that an enemy's privateer had taken a collier off Portland Bill. He assembled the Sea Fencibles and went out in 2 vessels, one a Guernsey extra packet boat called the Alert and the other a Pilot boat. The wind died away when they got south of the Bill and they found the Greyhound revenue cutter had retaken the collier and HMS Pluto was in chase of the privateer but was not able to catch her. From the french men who were on board the collier he found out that the privateer left Cherbourg 5 days ago and this was her first capture. describes the privateer. He thinks that if the Greyhound had not been off Portland they would have retaken the collier. Praises the readiness of Lieutenant Talbot late of HMS Harriet hired cutter who lives in Weymouth who went out in the Pilot boat and the willingness of D De Putron, Master of the Alert to provide his vessel.
