Folios 158-159: Henry Inman, Portsmouth. On the night of 22 July [1805] after the action with the combined fleets and in the forenoon of the following day as the men had been at quarters all night he directed T Irwin, Purser, to serve the company 2 additional allowances of bread and cheese and half a pint of wine per man rather than lumber his decks when in sight of the enemy by hoisting up proper provisions and as the men could not get at their own bread bags and mess things. The Victualling Board have refused to allow this without an Admiralty order, which he requests, understanding that such extra allowance has been granted on particular occasions.
