Description

Folios 332-333: George Irwin, Regulating Officer, Deal. The returns from Lieutenant Charles Bierltons of the newly raised men at Dover for June 1803 do not show the name of Edward Rye alias Robinson although his certificate is in the writing of Lieutenant Bierlton who is now serving on HMS Rangler.

Folios 334-335: enclosure with folios 332-333. Letter dated 14 June 1804 by Thomas Russell, HMS Monmouth, Yarmouth Roads. Is sending the report on Edward Rye alias Edward Robinson from Captain Gardner of HMS Hero,

Folios 336-337: enclosure with folios 332-333. Letter dated 10 May 1804 by William Mearns and B. Meadow, Lambeth. Edward Robinson alias Edward Rye was discharged from the Navy by the enclosed certificate as he procured a replacement. He was impressed again in October 1803 on HMS Hero. His wife has a family and hopes he will be discharged as he has paid £20 for a substitute and his business has suffered.

Folio 338: enclosure with folios 336-337. Letter dated 21 June 1803 by Lieutenant Charles Burlton, Regulating Officer, Dover. Certificate to say Edward Robinson alias Rye was discharged on 19 June 1803 as he has procured a subsitute.

Folio 339: enclosure with folios 334-335. Letter dated 11 June 1804 by Allen Gardener, HMS Hero, Spithead, to Admiral Russell. Edward Robinson alias Rye was impressed in June 1803 and was discharged when he procured a substitute but was impressed again and sent to HMS Zealand and from there to HMS Hero.

Folio 340: folio number not used.
