Folios 294-295: George Irwin, Regulating Officer, Deal. Is sending a letter from Thomas Forrest, Master of John Addison apprentice, impressed by Lieutenant Hugh Anderson from the Ceres. Irwin sent up Addison's apprentice papers to the Admiralty and Forrest wants them back and will sue him if he does not give them back. He wants to know his legal position if the Admiralty do not return the papers.
Folios 296-297: enclosure with folios 294-295. Letter dated 13 March 1804 by Thomas Forrest, London, to Captain Irwin. James Reed, the Ceres, says that John Addison was impressed at Deal and his papers were kept and not returned. This is against the law as they are his property.
