Description

Folios 286-287: George Irwin, Regulating Officer, Deal. John Addison, impressed by Lieutenant Anderson from the Cares South Shields had served five years and he is aged over 20. He said he was an apprentice and had been told by Mr Read the Master of the Cares to say no more. Irwin is certain he is older than 20 whatever age his baptism certificate says.

Folios 288-289: enclosure with folios 286-287. Letter dated 3 March 1804 by John Coats, South Shields. Is sending a copy of bap[tism of John Addison apprenticed to Thomas Forrest. John Addison was impressed from the Ceres on February 27 1804 by George Irwin on the pretence of him being over the age of 18.

Folio 290: enclosure with folios 288-289. Thomas Dryden and William Thompson, Elders, Dissenting Congregation of South Shields, attested by Joseph Mathew, Minister. Andrew and Barbara Addison had a son named John baptised on 17 September 1786.

Folio 291: enclosure with folios 286-287. Letter dated 8 March 1804 by Hugh Anderson to George Irwin, Deal. John Addison was impressed from the Ceres as he is over 20 and has served five years.

Folios 292-293: enclosure with folios 286-287. Letter dated 5 March 1804 by John Knight, London. When he wrote previously he asked that John Adams was released from impressment as he is an apprentice of Thomas Forrest. He meant to write John Addison.
