Folios 399-400: George Irwin, Regulating Officer, Deal. As directed he has enquired if any Lieutenants resided in this neighbourhood that could be recommended to be employed on the Impress Service at Dover and cannot find anyone. He mentions the name of Lieutenant John Mowat arrived from Halifax about three weeks ago he served under the late Admiral George Vandeput in HMS Asia Captain Robert Murray, he is a good officer and was often employed in a tender to raise Men on the Coast of Nova Scotia, with no appointment at the moment and he wonders if they might appoint him to the Dover Rendezvous.
