Folios 334-335: George Irwin, Regulating Officer, Deal. Reply to letter dated 9 June 1803. He encloses a letter from the Master and Wardens at Dover and Deal respecting the Pilots disklike to serve in His Majesty's Ships until some better regulations are made for there being paid after there return and discharge from the Service. He also encloses a list of Pilots Certificates referred payment for want of Rear Admiral Edward Thornbrough approval. He reports he has been at Deal and observed a General discontent and dislike in the Pilots to serve in HM Ships of War.
Folios 336-337: enclosures with folios 334-335. [Two letters] [1st] Signed by the Wardens at Deal:- Benjamin Dixson, Edward Erridge, Abraham Shrewsbury & Samuel Whitaker. [2nd] Signed by the Masters and Warden at Dover:- William Polling, William Cowley, John Cowley, Samuel Shepman & Robert Griggs . & the Wardens of Deal:- Benjamin Dixson, Edward Erridge, Abraham Shrewsbury & Samuel Whitaker. [Mentions:- Lord Keith - Sir George Keith Elphinstone (1st Viscount Keith)] About the payment to Pilots.
Folio 338: enclosure with folios 334-335. A List of Pilots Certificates returned from the Navy Board without payment for want of Rear Admiral Thornbrough Signature:- Mr William Cunningham, Mr James Besley, Mr Robert Norris & Mr Thomas Walker. [Gives details of vessels and dates].
