Description

Folios 322-323: George Irwin, Regulating Officer, Deal. Reply to your letter dated 2 June 1803 he acquaints them that Teasdale Bruce late Carpenter of the New Concord was impressed on the night of the 8 May 1803, the evening the orders where he finds to Press from all protections the Ship was empty laying in Margate Harbour. John Noreland Second mate of the Ship Britannia, was Impressed on 30 May 1803 in Margate Roads on his being brought on shore he entered as a Volunteer, having served in His majesty's Service Several Years as Midshipman and Master Mate.

Folio 324: enclosure with folios 322-323. John Saint, Sunderland. Sworn before J Stamfrone] Sunderland. Dated 28 May 1803. Maketh oath that he is the Master of the New Concord of Ramsgate employed in the Coal and Coasting Trade and that Teasdale Bruce the Carpenter was impressed and is now on HMS Minerva.

Folio 325: enclosure with folios 322-323. Letter dated 28 May 1803 by John Saint, Sunderland to the Admiralty. States that Teasdale Bruce Carpenter of the New Concord of which he John Saint is Master encloses the Affidavit. He petitions the Admiralty to Discharge Teasdale Bruce.

Folios 326-327: enclosure with folios 322-323. Letter dated 1 June 1803 by J W Adams, Crutched Fyres [Crutched Friars], [London.], to the Admiralty. Mr John Morland the Mate of the Britannia in the service of his piers Messrs Plummer has lately been Pressed at Margate on the Ships arrival from the West Indies. Request his release.
