Folios 267-268: George Irwin, Regulating Officer, Deal. Reports his arrival from Gosport yesterday morning where he met Lieutenant Samuel Price Leavey & Lieutenant Hugh Anderson two of the Lieutenants appointed to raise men under his command. Lieutenant Samuel Leavey dispatched to Ramsgate to open a Rendezvous and raise a Gang. Lieutenant Hugh Anderson has got a House and is procuring his Gang which he will complete today. States that most of the men raised here are procured from the Ships & Vessels passing through the Downs, consequently the Lieutenants will want Boats for constant Employ and request directions to Hire Boats. As soon as the other Lieutenant is appointed they will be dispatched to the different stations as ordered.
