Folios 213-214: Philip Jones, [Regulating Captain], Appledore Rendezvous. Reply to letter dated 10 August 1803 requesting to know what a boat may be hired for in Appledore, the lowest price is ten shillings and six pence per week. He informs that on the 9 August 1803 he sent by land to the Commanding Officer at Plymouth eight men, six of whom look all Able Seamen old Men of Wars men, the Navy can not boast of better, the other two men taken by the Civil Magistrate, and he has taken one man since who has now joined the Sea Fencibles.
