Folios 39-40: John Inglis, HMS Belliqueuse, Nore. Everything is perfectly calm aboard his ship and the crew have returned to their duties so he asks for leave because of his health. He has not been ashore for two years and for the last three months there has been mutiny aboard and for three weeks he has been a prisoner in the most unpleasant circumstance. He is ready to go to sea if demanded but the Admiralty must see the impropriety of the Officers having to command a crew who have 'flown in their faces' . The newspapers are saying that HMS Belliqueuse was the last ship to submit but this is not true as he had sent their petition to Admiral [Bushiner] . The conduct of his crew was black but it was many shades less so than other crews. They saved the HMS Hound from being blown out of the water by HMS Sandwich as they had their guns out and matches lit ready to battle with HMS Sandwich had she persisted in firing at Hound. Captain Word of HMS Hound also says they they saved him again when HMS Inflexible was preparing to fire as Hound was getting under weigh.
