Folios 276-277: John Larmour, HMS Lord Hood, Leith Roads. Following orders of September 1798 from Sir Richard Onslow, Vice Admiral of the red, he took charge of vessels collected in Leith Roads bound for the Baltic, a list of which is enclosed [not present] and sailed on 19 September [1798] and arrived with them safely at Elsineur [Elsinore] on 215 [September 1798] and sailed from there on 28 [September 1798] in company with HMS Champion and HMS Busey [Busy] , arriving there yesterday with what vessels he could collect after separating in a heavy gale on 11 and 12 [September 1798]. HMS Lord Hood is in such a weak state being an old vessel and he has been forced to shore up the gun deck . That has not had the desired effect tor on the second discharge of one gun both decks gave way. The men's beds are constantly wet owing to the badness of the decks. Asks for a survey to be ordered as she does not think the ship is fit for her current service.
