Folios 272-273: John Larmour, HMS Lord Hood, Yarmouth Roads. He received orders from Lord Duncan on 27 June [1798] to take charge of the trade from Leith Roads and Dundee bound to the Baltic and see them safely in to Elsineur [Elsinore]. On 15 July [1798] he sailed with 53 merchant vessels accompanied by the Osnaburgh revenue cutter, and arrived at Elsinore on 24 [July 1798] with all the ships. Finding none of HM ships at Elsinore and a large convoy ready to proceed to different ports he immediately took charge of them and with the Osnaburgh brig in company sailed on 26 July [1798] with 93 ships. Those bound to the westward he saw in as far as possible. He dispatched the Osnaburgh with the trade for the Firth of Forth. He still had the majority of the convoy and has continued with them seeing the ships bound to eastern ports in safely. Today he arrived at Yarmouth Roads with the ships bound to London. Is sending a list of both convoys [not present].
