Folios 270-271: John Larmour, HMS Lord Hood, Leith Roads. He received orders from Lord Viscount Duncan on 27 June [1798] to take charge of vessels from Leith and Dundee and to see them safely in to Elsineur [Elsinore]. He sailed on 8 [July 1798] and the same day a report came to the Lord Provost of Edinburgh of a squadron of enemy ships seen cruising to the northward. This was forwarded to Captain Clements who dispatched a vessel to give him the intelligence, as a result of which he returned to Leith Roads with the convoy to wait Lord Duncan's further orders or any others he may be given.
