Folios 264-265: John Larmour, HMS Lord Hood, Leith Roads. Encloses a letter he found on board the Prussian ship the Hazard, from Charlestown South Carolina bound to Amsterdam which he detained and have had examined there but find her papers in order so he has thought fit to liberate her to proceed on her voyage.
Folios 266-269: enclosure with folios 264-265. Letter [in French] dated 22 Germinal 6 from Bose [?], Charlestown, to Citoyen Revelliere Lepaux membre du directorie executif, Paris. Describes his difficulties in remaining in that country. Is anxious for news of France. If he had money he would depart immediately. He goes to town each week and expects to find a declaration of war by Congress. He does not know who to trust. Asks him to send newspapers. His last collection finished with the death of Louvet. [There is much more in this letter referring to matters of government and personal affairs, but the handwriting is very difficult to read. The addressee is clearly a close friend].
