Description

Folios 220-221: Robert Larkham, HMS Camilla, at Sea. Today 7 leagues from Guernsey he fell in with the Danish brig Abel Margarita bound to Bremen from Malaga, laden with wine and raisins. In compliance with the order of 2 February 1798 respecting neutral vessels laden with produce of the enemy he detained her and sent her into Portsmouth.

Folios 222-225: enclosure with folios 220-221. Printed instructions signed by Spencer, Gambier and Young, and by command of their lordships William Marsden, to Captains and Commanders of HM ships and vessels. Instruction dated 25 January [1798] revoking instruction dated 8 January 1794 concerning vessels laden with goods or produce of any island or settlement belonging to France, Spain of the United Provinces. Directions concerning sending vessels and their cargoes in for adjudication. Encloses a copy of HM Instructions dated 25 January [1798].

Folios 223-224: enclosure with folios 222-225. Instructions dated 25 January 1798 from Portland by command of His Majesty. Given at the Court at St James's. Refers to the terms of instructions dated 8 January 1794 which are revoked and issues new instructions.
