Description

Folios 572-573: Commander George Luke, Dunchideock House near Exeter. Acknowledges the letter giving him permission to serve in a cavalry corps, but since writing him his friends have told him he should apply for command of a ship, as he will make a better sailor than a soldier. Asks if the Admiralty have a command they can offer him, notes he can bring a body of seamen with him to help man one because of his apparent popularity, having previously served in the merchant service out of the port of Topsham.
