Folios 529-530: William Lukin, HMS Espion, Nore. Requests an order for Court Martial upon Thomas Lewis, Seaman a deserter from HMS Hornet while under his command he absconded himself first from the Boat when on shore watering at St Jago but was taken (after some resistance) by the vigilance and exertion of the Officers, finally left the Boat when on duty at Portsmouth in November 1795 and went to London whence he wrote to one of his ship mates which letter he intercepted. He in now entered on HMS Sandwich where he was sent with other new raised men from HMS Enterprise.
Folio 531: enclosure with folios 529-530. Undated letter by [William Lukin, HMS Espion], to the Admiralty. Sir. As it does not appear that Thomas Lewis was ever on board HMS Espion, I beg leave to submit whether Admiral [Charles] Buckner may not be directed to send him to Portsmouth by the first opportunity in order to be tried on the arrival of the witnesses to substantiate the charge
Folio 532: folio number not used.
