Folios 515-516: William Luke, HMS Caroline, Spithead. Reply to letter dated 6 February 1796 requesting he state the case of William Nicholls a pressed man. This man was impressed from the Brig Ceres in the Humber and although the Master did produce their Lordships Protection yet this mans was not inserted on it, therefore he was brought on board HMS Caroline very soon after entered and has since received His Majesty's Bounty of £5. Inclosed [not present] is George Hogg's letter returned as desired.
