Folios 501-502: William Luke, HMS Caroline, Sheerness. Reports that he was served with the enclosed writ [not present] for the discharge of Merrick Longbrough a breeman who was pressed out of the Manship East Indiaman on 17 October 1795 in the River by Mr Stephen Dodds 2nd Lieutenant of HMS Caroline as he could not produce a pass, he has been detained ever since. Request to be informed if he should be discharged in consequence of the writ.
