Folios 387-388: Andrew King., HMS Venerable, Chatham. Acknowledges receipt of Admiralty letter of 21 November. In reply to the question raised in the letter does not believe that Mr Gillman's lack of knowledge of the existence of Thorntons Ledge was the cause of the Venerable getting on shore on evening of 28 September nor any complaint to allege against him for that unfortunate accident. His statement to their Lordships on that occasion is utterly false.
