Folios 136-137: James Kineer, Exeter. Informing that James Carrington was impressed by Lieutenant McDonnell and suspected of being a deserter. His family and friends wish him to have a post in the navy as he is in a volunteer Corps in Ireland and living 'a most abandoned life'.
Folios 138-139: enclosure with folios 136-137. Letter dated 23 August 1800 by James Carrington, appealing against his impressment, as he has served with the Militia in Ireland during the Rebellion, since he was pressed at fourteen into the Navy.
