Folios 240-241: John Knowles, Guernsey. Acknowledging receipt of letters containing descriptions of seven men escaped from Cold Bath Fields (prison), explaining that he has given instuctions to search for them; also copy of a letter from William Bedford of HMS Royal Sovereign relating to Nicholas Torade who has deserted, explaining that he has found him on Guernsey and that he is a native of the Island from a reputable family, that he is now on bail and that his friends have offered to procure two men in his place, if that is acceptable to their Lordships.
Folios 242-243: enclosure with folios 240-241.Copy of letter dated 28 February 1798 from William Bedford on HMS Royal Sovereign at Spithead to John Knowles, explaining that Nicholas Torade aged 24 years and a native of Guernsey has absented himself from the ship and is suspected to be on the Island and requesting that he be apprehended.
