Folios 196-197: Reginald Goodwin Keats. Commodore John Borlase Warren is reported to have recaptured a valuable English merchant ship at the entrance of Brest harbour. During the chase, the enemy did considerable damage to the vessel and so Captain Keats was ordered to ensure she got back safely into Falmouth harbour. On the way he fell in with Captain White of HMS Sylph who also had a ship under his protection. Captain Keats thought it proper to leave the merchant ship with Captain White and return to join the Commodore at Brest. He reports that the enemy's fleet are in Brest, though given the haze it is impossible to see if their sails are bent, but given the westerly wind they could not leave harbour in any event.
