Folios 164-165: Jonathan Knowles, Guernsey. He acknowledges receipt of their letter of 29 September 1796 ordering him to complete the complement of HMS Syren. He will do this as soon as he can. HMS Syren is a very fast sailing ship who has a good Commander who will serve his country well.
