Folios 158-159: Jonathan Knowles, Guernsey, He writes that there are very few naval ships calling which means he is unable to make use of the volunteers, deserters and other seamen who are left behind in the port from Naval vessels. There are insufficient houses to accommodate them and there is no gaol other than Castel Cornet whose authroities have refused to care for them. He suggests that the Admiralty appoint the cutter Earl of Chatham under the command of Mr McDougal as a receiving vessel and for any other purpose that may proved necessary. Both will be under Captain Knowle'scommand.
