Folios 33-34: William Hancock Kelly, HMS Veteran, Hamoaze. Pursuant to the Admiralty's orders, HMS Veteran is being cleared, ready to be paid off. This has proved a very difficult task and the pumps had to be constantly at work. After the men have been sent to serve on another ship he hopes he will not be unemployed for long. He asks, therefore, if he may retain his boat's crew, who have been most faithfully attached to him both during peace and war and whom he values highly for their loyalty and attention to duty.
