Folios 280-281: Basil Hall, Portsmouth. Advises that when at St. Helena in HMS Victor he received an application from Major Carrol of the 69th Regiment and aid du camp to the Governor of Mauritius requesting passage to England. He advised that he was charged with public dispatches to the Earl of Bathurst and the Duke of Wellington and he was proceeding to Bordeaux in a French ship when he heard of the changes in France and considered it unsafe to proceed by such passage. He was on board from 6 July for 7 weeks arriving at Spithead on 24 August. Asks for the usual allowance to be paid to Messrs Ommanney & Druce.
