Folios 131-132: Charles Hewitt, HMS Gladiator, Portsmouth.
Replying to a letter dated 15 August he reports that Benjamin Rouse is a supernumerary carpenter on the books since 2 April 1814 and regularly listed on the returns of supernumerary warrant officers. It appears that Rouse wrote to the Admiralty on 18 May 1814 asking to be born on the cheque of Portsmouth yard and was told by letter dated 19 My 184 that his request could not be granted.
