Folios 117-118: John Halliday, HMS Tigre, Spithead. Responding to an enquiry dated 11 August 1814 he reports that midshipman R B Ramsden, aged thirteen, was brought into the service by his father who is Mate of HMS Tigre. He describes the circumstances of the event on 2 August 1814 when Ramsden was twice absent from the deck when on watch and appeared drunk. He was later seen to be behaving riotously and was rude to both his father and the lieutenant. He was not court martialled and his father is himself well regarded.
Folios 119-120: enclosure with folios 116-117. Letter dated 3 August 1814 by Lieutenant [?H] Jones, HMS Tigre, Spithead, to John Halliday. Asks that Midshipman Richard Bell Ramsden be brought to a court martial. Refers to the enclosed charges against him.
Folios 121-122: enclosure with folios 116-117. Letter dated 3 August 1814 by [?H] Jones, HMS Tigre, off the Isle of Wight, to John Halliday. Describes how Ramsden repeatedly shook his fist at him and made further threats of violence.
Folios 123-124: enclosure with folios 116-117. Letter dated 5 August 1814 by[?h] Jones, HMS Tigre, Spithead. Writes that he does not wish to injure Ramsden Junior by trying him at a court martial but asks that he be discharged from the service.
