Folios 100-101: John Harper, HMS Saracen off Gibraltar. Reports that since becoming commander in chief he has been informed by Captain Farefax Morseby of HMS Wizard that the enclosed letter addressed to Admiral Thomas Francis Fremantle was misdirected and not received at the Admiralty. Refers to the enclosed copy.
Folios 102-103: enclosure with folios 100-101. Letter dated 18 August 1814 by John Harper, HMS Saracen, Barco de Cuatro to Admiral Fremantle at Lissa. Reports having reconnoitred the harbour of Barco de Cuatro on 13 August 1814 and describes the fortifications. On 17 August 1814 he joined HMS Wizard and HMS Weazle under Captain James Black with the aim of destroying the harbour. Events are described in detail.
