Folios 256-257: Edward Hodder, HMS Tisiphone, in the Needles Passage. States that Mr Henry Clarke of HMS Tisiphone has represented to him that his Pay from HMS Courageux has been stopped in consequence of a R being against his name on the Ship's Books of HMS Namure, which ship he dis not join, but [he] proceeded to HMS Tisiphone on the Company of HMS Courageux being paid off. He joined HMS Tisiphone on 24 June 1813. He has since passed his examination for Lieutenant and he recommended him to Admiral Sir Richard [Hussey] Bickerton Bart. [(2nd Baronet Bickerton of Upwood)]. Who appointed him Acting master of HMS Tisiphone. He requests that the R be removed in order that he receive his Pay.
Folio 258: enclosure with folios 256-257. Certificate that the Principle Officer and Commissioners of the Navy that Mr Henry Clarke served as Midshipman on board HMS Courageux form 5 April 1811 to 17 May 1813. Signed Philip Wilkinson. Dated 17 May 1813.
