Folios 182-183: Edmund Hayward, HMS Ethalion, Cove of Cork. Covering letter for the enclosed certificate of George Clements late Boatswain's Mate of HMS Ethalion, who has been appointed by Vice Admiral Herbert Sawyer to act as Boatswain of HMS Avon. As he has served as a Petty Officer 14 years & part of that time as Acting Boatswain of HMS Hydra up the Mediterranean, he hopes his service and good conduct will recommend him for promotion.
Folio 184: enclosure with folios 182-183. Letter dated 18 March 1814 by Vice Admiral Herbert Sawyer, HMS Trent, Cork Harbour to George Clements, HMS Ethalion. Letter of appointment as Acting Boatswain on HMS Avon in the room of Mr Hugh Brenden deceased.
