Description

Folios 171-172: Charles Hewit, [HMS Gladiator], Angel Inn, St Clements. Having been directed to attend at the Assizes at Maidstone to give evidence in the trail of John & Sarah Morris for Forgery. He request ten days leave of absence from HMS Gladiator. [Note John & Sarah Morris tried for Uttering a Forged and Counterfeit order for payment of prize money (Due to Henry Taylor) with intent to defraud the Governors of Greenwich Hospital – Sentenced:- John to one year and Sarah to death (possible commuted)].
