Folios 168-169: Robert Hall, Messina. Encloses a letter a copy of which he transmitted to the Commander in Chief of HM forces in Sicily. Advises he has accepted the temporary rank of Brigadier General in this army and notes his rank in the Navy is inferior to that of Officers commanding the Sicilian Flotilla which is employed on the enemy's coast.
Folios 170-171: enclosed with folios 168-169. Letter by Captain and Brigadier Robert Hall, Commander of the combined flotilla, Messina, dated 1 December 1811 to the Admiralty. Advises that on 21 November 1811 the Coast Telegraph announced the capture of a Sicilian Polaore by a privateer in the Faro. A division of the British flotilla was immediately put in motion but the Polaore was already moored to the shore under protection of heavy batteries of Reggio. The flotilla soon disabled the batteries and the Polaore effectively destroyed. Compliments the bravery of the Sicilian seamen.
