Description

Folios 474-475: John Hollingworth, HMS Resistance, Cadiz Bay. Reports that having received orders from Captain [Charles] Adam of HMS Invincible he has conveyed several Spanish Officers from Cadiz to Carthagena [Cartagena]. Also one Spanish General and his Suite from Carthagena [Cartagena] to Cadiz, which has caused him considerable expense. Requests some remuneration.

Folio 476: enclosure with folios 474-475. Charles Adam, HMS Invincible, Carthagena [Cartagena]. To John Hollingworth, HMS Resistance. Dated 12 May 1810. Orders to take under his protection the Transports he brought from Cadiz, on which had a Division of Spanish troops are now embarked, and three Spanish Vessels that have also troops on board, and proceed to Cadiz. You are also directed to dive protection to any Spanish Merchant Ships. You are to receive the Spanish General and some Officers which compose his suite on board for a passage to Cadiz.

Folio 477: enclosure with folios 474-475. [Vice Admiral] John Child Purvis, HMS Atlas, Cadis. To John Hollingworth, HMS Resistance. Dated 26 April 1810. Memorandum:- You will put yourself under the Order of Captain Adam of HMS Invincible and follow his directions for your further proceedings.

Folio 478: enclosure with folios 474-475. Charles Adam, HMS Invincible, Cadiz Harbour. To John Hollingworth, HMS Resistance. Dated 30 April 1810. HMS Resistance is to take on board Twelve Officers of the Spanish Guard for conveyance to Carthagena [Cartagena] to be Victualled at two thirds allowance.
