Description

Folios 410-411: Thomas Huskisson, HMS Blonde, Downs. Reports the arrival of HMS Blonde as per orders (copy enclosed) at this Port with the Leeward Island Convoy as per accompanying list [not present]. States that the Master of the Ship Willington R Niel [R Neil] owner from St Lucia bound to London and insured by Lloyds) died and the Mate having declared his incapacity to take charge he on the 11 May 1810 sent Lieutenant Michael Quarry, a Supernumerary, late of HMS St Pierres [HMS Saint Pierre], on board to navigate her to England and on the morning of the 12 May 1810 she was missing - The cause of her parting company he attributes to [her] being badly manned and [the crew] very sickly so that proper attention could not be paid.

Folios 412-413: enclosure with folios 410-411: Orders from Vice Admiral Sir Alexander [Inglis] Cochrane, HMS Neptune, St Pierre, Martinique. To Thomas Huskisson, HMS Blonde. Dated 21 April 1810. As soon as the Trade in the charge of HMS Rosamond appears off Port Royal Bay you are required and directed to take the same convoy under your care and protection along with any Trade from this Port etc... [Total of two sides with details of the ports from which trade will come from and the passage and arrival instructions].
