Description

Folios 396-397: James Hay, HMS Papillon, Portsmouth Harbour. Covering letter for the enclosed from Vice Admiral Sir Alexander [Inglis] Cochrane KB appointing Mr John Allan, Carpenter's Mate of HMS Asp to be Carpenter of HMS Papillon. Request this be confirmed.

Folios 398-399: enclosure with folios 396-367. Appointment letter dated 29 December 1809 by Vice Admiral Sir Alexander [Inglis] Cochrane KB, HMS Pompee, under Marie Galante. To Mr John Allan - Carpenter's Mate, HMS Asp. Appointing him Acting Carpenter on HMS Papillon.
