Folios 238-239: Thomas Heddington, Regulating Officer, North Yarmouth. Covering letter for the enclosed [not present] account of the number of men procured at this port in the last week. He also enclose an affidavit found upon John Bell mentioned therein, he was pressed yesterday by Lieutenant [Thomas John] Folds and has no Boats Papers or Licences although it appears by the affidavit that he has been Master of the boat the months. Every man met with in Gorlestone has a similar affidavit to produce.

Affidavit [Certificate] Town and Borough of Great Yarmouth in Norfolk."Forasmuch as Joseph bell of Gorlestone in the County of Suffolk Pilot came this Day before me Robert Warmington esquire, Mayor, and one of His Majesty's Justices of the Peace and Quorum, of and for the said Borough, and voluntarily made Oath upon the Holy Evangelist of God, as followeth. (that is to say) That the bearer hereof, aged 23 Years about 5 Feet 8 Inches high [more description stated] is employed in Piloting Vessels in and out of the Haven of Great Yarmouth aforesaid and in assisting of ships in distress." Dated 3 June 1809.
