Description

Folios 164-165: Askew Pafford Hollis, HMS Standard, Spithead. States that John Hoy did duty as Master at Arms as per Acting Order from Vice Admiral the Right Honourable Lord Collingwood [Lord Cuthbert Collingwood (1st Baron Collingwood, of Caldburne and Hethpool)] from 15 April 1806 to 15 April 1809 at which time he was disrated for drunkenness & disorderly conduct. On the 4 May 1909 the day HMS Standard was paid he could only receive Able Seaman's pay as his acting Warrant had never been confirmed, & on application to the Navy Board, they say it must be confirmed by their Lordships up to the time of his disrating. Viz. 15 April 1809. He encloses his acting Warrant in order that he may be paid the difference between Able Seaman and Master at Arms for the period stated.

Folios 166-167: enclosure with folios 164-165. Orders dated 15 April 1806 by Vice Admiral Cuthbert Lord Collingham [Lord Cuthbert Collingwood (1st Baron Collingwood, of Caldburne and Hethpool)], HMS Ocean, off Cadiz. to John Hoy, HMS Standard. Orders to John Hoy to act as Master at Arms of HMS Standard.
