Folios 307-308: Joshua Sydney Horton, Liverpool Regulating Captain. Reply to letter 19th. James Watkins, age 23 born Wales impressed 21st by Lieutenant Evans. Thomas Astley age 23 born Blackburn ordered to be discharged on receiving two able bodied landsmen, reports neither have been delivered. Returns enclosures.
Folios 309-310: enclosed in folios 307-308. Matthew Davis, Cardiganshire Magistrate, Long Acre, London, 19 September 1809. Foe James Watkins impressed at Liverpool. Asks to provide a substitute so he can return to his family.
Folios 311-312: enclosed in folios 307-308. Martha Astley, Blackburn, 15 September 1809. Her friends can only raise ten pounds for one substitute. Asks to be able to provide only one substitute to have her husband discharged. Has small children and will have to look to the parish for help. Asks they accept the young man found.
