Folios 246-247: Lark Woodhead, Navy Agents, 22 Essex Street, Strand. Enclosing Captain John Martin Hanchett, HMS Raven’s medical report concerning injury sustained at Flushing 3 August 1809. Request he’s examined by the College of Surgeons on his return to London.
Folios 248-249: enclosed in folios 246-247. William Preston, Surgeon, HMS Raven, off Dreischor, 25 August 1809. Captain Hanchett hit by large splinter from boom hits rhs/loins. Passing the batteries to assist boats up river. Eight others injured. Rendered unconscious, blood in urine. Remained on deck. Violent pain for days. Debilitating.
