Folios 312-313: enclosed with folios 310-311. Letter dated 5 August 1809 by Diago Antonio J Souza, Portugal Consul, Liverpool, to the Admiralty. Reports that Captain Joze Antonio Cardosa of the brig Allendengue [?] from Pernambuco was apprehensive that his crew were about to desert, so he arranged for his crew to be put in jail for a few days until the ship was ready. Officers of the Impress Service then visited the prison and the seven men he names volunteered for the Navy. Asks if they can be released so the ship can sail. Also asks for the release of Joze Pereira Marques, who was impressed because he married an Englishwoman and so invalidated his protection certificate.
